The owl is an ambivalent symbol. It is a bird of thoughtfulness, but also of darkness and night. Being an attribute of the goddess Athena, the owl symbolizes wisdom and knowledge. Owls have the ability to see at night, to see everything around them without moving, but only turning their heads. They have a wise insightful look.

A noiseless night flight, glowing eyes, and eerie shouts led to the common beliefs and scary stories about this night predator.

This embroidery tries to shift the accents of this bird’s symbolism from gloomy and boring to elegant and a bit whimsical. The most important artistic elements that allowed us to do this were the numerous spirals and lines that form the feathers of the owl.
