Among the Hindus, Vajrapani occupies a special place – an angry bodhisattva, the personification of a force that removes obstacles to enlightenment. His name means “A hand holding a vajra”.

The image of Vajrapani roots in deep antiquity: the spirit-werewolf of Vedic times and the hypocrite Indra, he becomes the legendary disciple of Shakyamuni, the bodhisattva in Mahayana, and in Vajrayana, he became the idol of Guhyapati Vajradhara, the personification of the same tantra.
