This embroidery design is another rendition of a cowboy – an iconic figure of the American culture and lifestyle.

For about thirty years at the end of the 19th century, the cowboys drove huge herds of cattle from the vast western pastures to the center of the country, to the railway stations of Kansas, from where the animals were transported by train to different cities.

A real cowboy had a special a cowboy horse, capable of developing an exceptional speed at a short distance. These horses also could change direction while moving fast, or stop instantly. On such a horse, one can gather the scattered cows in a matter of minutes.
